Design Ideas for Display Ads
Here are some design fundamentals that may be of help when you are creating your ad. Some of these are a good reminder for Bulletin Board ads as well.
Ad Design 101 Checklist
Here are some basic things to consider putting into your ad (it's amazing how we can forget the simple things).
- ____ Your business name (remember this is Design 101)
- ____ Your logo
- ____ Phone number - including area code
- ____ Email address and/or
- ____ Website address - You can leave off the http:// part.
- ____ Your business location(s)
- ____ The town(s) you are in
- ____ The kind of business you are in
- ____ Your key services/products or your key phrase
- ____ What's special about you - what sets you apart?
Ad Design 102 Checklist
- ____ Include color (there's no added charge for color).
- ____ Resist the urge to cram a lot into a small space.
- ____ Make use of white space - it is dramatic.
- ____ Write tight copy. Remove words not needed. Repeat.
- ____ Use correct English (unless your purpose is not to).
- ____ Make a printed copy of your ad - does it still look good?
- ____ Ask someone else to proof-read the ad - very carefully!
- ____ Verify that the ad meets our Technical Specs.
- ____ Send us your ad, attached to an email,
or, for large ads, ask us to set up an ftp account for you.
